Romania made a striking impression at ICFF. Romanian furniture brands showcased creativity, refinement, and local craftsmanship, winning the admiration of international design professionals.

The standout piece that drew admiration and respect from experts was a unique table with a base made from a nearly 3,000-year-old oak root, carbon-dated and specially crafted for the event by the brand Masara. Other highlights included solid wood smart furniture collections — an innovative fusion of craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology by Transilvan; acoustic solutions that combine innovative design with high functionality created by ASKIA; dining tables made entirely from solid oak and wild oak by Mobex Furniture; an exclusive washbasin collection presented by ISRA Design under the GIA brand; premium chairs and armchairs showcased by Simone Albani; oak and upholstered furniture from Montana; handcrafted globes by Large Globes, and luxury curtains and drapes from Sophia Home Decorations.

This was Romania’s sixth participation at ICFF New York, and once again, Romanian furniture was well received by a specialized audience: architects, interior designers, showroom owners, retailers, distributors, and developers from the United States, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, China, Israel, UK, Spain, Italy, and France. Last year, Romania’s furniture exports to the United States reached €64 million, marking a 1.5-fold increase compared to 2018, when Romanian furniture was first presented in New York, and nearly a fourfold increase from 2011.

ICFF New York 2025, held from May 18–20 at the Javits Center, was a landmark event in the world of contemporary design, bringing together over 450 exhibitors from 35 countries and attracting nearly 10,000 industry professionals. This year’s edition was guided by the theme “Designing in Harmony,” emphasizing human-centered design, sustainability, and cultural diversity. This concept was reflected in many exhibits and installations, promoting a holistic and empathetic approach to design. ICFF 2025 showcased an industry in constant evolution, with sustainability, innovation, and cultural diversity at its core. The event highlighted that contemporary design is not only about aesthetics but also about social and environmental responsibility, anticipating the future direction of the industry.
